What if? Metropolis Buildings and Short Analysis of Herbert Leupin

In this exercise I experimented with the idea of magic realism, a sort of genre that interrelates different real life objects to produce abstract or surrealistic results. In example, this could be like looking at a bridge, and instead of the architectural detail, you could also see lots of little people holding up the bridge (It's a hard thing to explain, I would've looked up the actual name for it but I have no idea what to look for, so I'll just put in a picture instead), or it could be as subtle as simply putting a face onto a product that shares similar characteristics. So I could look at a corporate building, and if it looks like a snake, I could redraw it as a snake.

However, this is not the sort of magic realism that we are after in this project, we are after the more subtle, and in the case of Herbert Leupin, more humorous side of the genre. This would entail the grouping together of certain object that share characteristics of what they are meant to portray, like a tangle of snakes or simians or other extremely violent entity to represent the London metal exchange for example. Potentially this could lead to so many results, since the works of Herbert Leupin change in their style so drastically over his lifetime, from simple geometric to terrifyingly distinct photogenic pieces (in my eyes at least, I may just trace what I can to achieve this kind of result).

I have a much better idea of what do in regards to this project now I have this view, so I should have some more different pieces on the way soon, which doesn't necessarily mean I would discard what I have now. The buildings here will be re-purposed to make up background elements to flesh out the cities bones, to make it seem more inhabited in line with what I said in previous posts about the subject of atmosphere.
