| Dead Cells. |
To begin my interest in this project I was quick to start my experimentation with the little cells inside all of us. Not literally, may I add, but rather in terms of style and character designs, all to configure some kind of perspective on this miniature world and its dealings. There are so many details to cover; not all of which may even make it into the final animation I fear, but my choice of subject matter should kindly negate this trivial issue;
'Cancer'
When we focus on one singular element that is the counter to life as we know it in the cell cycle, it is the perfect basis of conflict, even on a miniature stage. And it can very easily play out like real life too.
However in this project I recognise the need is less on the elements of storytelling and more those of a informant. The animation itself needs to be concise and also relevant. This leaves no room for fantastical dwellings unfortunately, but the leg room for art direction is far more prevailing. Therefore the style is much more important than whatever can be said directly (apart from jokes), so my main focus should be on that.
Here in example is some of the work I made over the course in digital painting classes. I liked the idea of using a mask layer to introduce some texture to the cells, and I believe some character too. The palette is typically brighter in non cancerous cells, while the darker tones and harsher details of the bad cells is more intensified.
Regarding my progress on this project I intend to finish what work I need done 'done' by the 20th March so I may finish the first animatic on time. and after that the storyboarding should be fairly straightforward.
