'What if? Metropolis' Leupina Travelogue

The city of Leupina, named after one of its most notable proprietors, ravishes in a cityscape of the broadest colour. Every building on the skyline has its own kind of unique consideration behind its design, yet everything included within the structures share the same functionality. There are so many wide spaces in the form of streets and plazas for the sake of the richly cultured community that happily roam the streets. It is difficult to keep your eyes closed as every object seems to demand your most treasured time before lending it to the next a few moments later. The layout brings you to the tram system, which in turn takes you on a gallery safari, something on that wall brings your eyes to one side but you get distracted by another beautiful thing. And so it goes on. The people here happily reside in one of the world’s biggest galleries in the form of a resort like city.

Leupina nestles itself between mountains to take full advantage of the slopes, on the higher parts you can admire almost every advertisement within the city walls, while on the flip side the city becomes less intense in subject matter the further you go down into its core. The outskirts of the city are very bland due to the surrounding marsh providing little to no opportunity for expansion, causing the growing city to grow upwards instead of outwards. This does not stop people attempting to move in, bringing muddy black tents that frame the characterful city. Since the lower groups and residences of the city don’t get the full advantage of perspective other people may have on top, refracting mirrors are placed about instead to magnify all the rigorous adverts down into ponds whose depths glisten with coins, producing a wondrous fantasy.

As an economically centered community blooms within the historic city, even the businessmen have taken on their own personas as a result of the passing of time. Markets style themselves after their goods, the goods represent themselves through their personalities, and the smaller sub cultures bring themselves to the challenge in earnest. Of particular note is the presence of the towering business district, the beating hearts of the city's success. The economic powerhouse takes the form of many towers of sky scraping paper, thick set tomes and books, bric-a-brac; all loomed over by a giant stationary serpent. This section of the city is so old parts of the newspaper towers cascade down the slope, exercising its dominion over a sizable portion of the city landscape. Here the lights never blink out and the workers never sleep under the penetrating gaze the reptile inflicts. It is thus the most active part of the city because of that one factor.

Regarding the philosophies and thought processes behind Leupina's occupants is quite simple if you can understand why advertisements exist apart from the obvious purposes of increasing awareness of products and services. The purpose of a picture in a gallery is to be observed, just like an advertisement. An advertisement, in a similar way to many art forms can have any amount of effort put into it and can come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. It can be a mascot by extension just like a trope in the art genres can. That's how the buildings came to be in the eyes of the residents, being in the form of how they were composed with representative's that accurately portray the companies intent. Practise of this philosophy lends itself to the overall mood of the architecture adding transition from one group of buildings to the other clutch of residences. The city benefits through the use of colour to alleviate one's mood to prevent depression, doctors’ orders. As well as this the local high street sees much more patrons than one usual city would, generating a real well knit culture of residents that welcomes anyone warmly.

The construction of the city combined with its historical and modern success makes it a hotspot for tourists around the world. The moment a happy holiday maker steps foot past the border is the point when hidden groups of nefarious qualities begin to rear their heads, as it takes the advantage of the hood of hospitality to spread its falsity. Such schemes are really nothing new, especially from the exterior of the city where such practise is rife in tourist locations. Low quality is slung and lies are spread for the same poor wares that are naively absorbed by the visitors. the self-same businesses and enterprise takes on a whole new mask because of the location, though their attempts at successful advertisement are amateurish at best making them a common knowledge and also pests amongst the disgruntled residents. It is an encouraged practise or he residents to keep their own enterprise on top of the unwelcome merchants in order to save the organised façade of the city lifestyle without appearing unfriendly to the always important tourists.

Next to the city is a thriving port complete with a seaside parade of shops which is a key draw for the visitors, having several points of interest such as the deep set sense of mercantile activity, the statues of prominent costermongers, arabbers and traders, plus the spectacular displays that adorn every inch of one’s vision. Coupled with the surrounding basin lake, it is possible to reach a state of elation normally crushing previous experience in the shopper’s horizon. A landscape of wares crying out for their owners; that is the will of the shopper’s mind. Money is the lifeblood of this city inwards and outwards certainly, playing on the skills of the seller and the wanting of the buyers.
