Thumbnails

IIn this set of thumbnails I drew impressions of Armilla, the ruined city. what was interesting about this city was the impressions of he city being deserted due to its livability, but to still be populated to some extent by people. I liked to think that the city was more fantasy based in its nature than the text implied, since the themes and scenes of revealing nature must've been related to the part in the text about women showering. You can see the progression of my thoughts here, when I noticed the sludgy brown not having the mystical quality I wanted, I turned to environmental factors, like steam or mist. These things can easily be brought back into the themes of bathrooms and magic alike, which are two of the keywords I was attempting convey in my drawings here. As a result of my studies not only am I more confident with my imagery of this city, but I am also getting better at drawing landscapes as a whole.

I worry about the sense of grandeur lacking in these thumbnails however, since nothing seems that large or dominating, which is something I look at further in the Photoshop versions of these thumbnails. In the future I will attempt to make larger and better dominating structures to add to this city.
