Character Design Workshop: shapes and Proportions

In this lesson we learned about shapes and proportions, and how this can effect the overall look of our character. We were first tasked with drawing around a popular character using different shapes or proportions. This didn't necessarily mean transforming them into another character entirely, but rather adopting the original artists style to incorporate the shapes more. If I had known this before, the pictures I had produced would have been more to the point. Style and proportions are two very different things now.

Second after the latter, we were asked to create a variety of different characters; I was asked to create a superhero. The archetype for this tends to be quite square or strong, so I immediately set out to make a tall, muscular, masculine figure, who I later retouched to become a Character called Oktoberman. He was recieved well as an anti-drinking sort of character, however, the idea was rather spontaneous due to time constraint, and had a few plot holes to start off with that were later weeded out through investigation. I am quite proud of this character, and intend to create some higher quality images in the future for it.
