Some quick sketches in response to stimulus this time. The first one was to transform an object for a character specifically; this one is a magnifying glass for the Joker. You can see here how my perception is rather warped in response here (I don't read or watch Batman). If I'd known next to nothing about him it would have been a whole other story. I understand this character to the point of him being a suspicious character and a villain. Here, I used the style and what I understood from the design to create an angular, slightly smashed magnifying glass. Later it was amended for a more psychotic end.
The next exercise was to investigate a set of characters based in a cleaning closet, or wash cupboard or whatever. I am quite happy with my results here. Having understood the conscious mind in response to some of the items one would imagine being there was instrumental for their successes. Taking hold of basic proportions and shapes was also a good thing to know.
