BIG PIC

This is one of my final outcomes of my assigned project of 101 sketches. This creature was inspired by the ergonomic design of scissors in my inspiration list, and how I could make less ergonomic by fusing them to a creatures face. I expanded on this idea by configuring Frankenstein or 'science experiment gone wrong' elements to this piece by adding tubes, stitches and containers of unknown fluid to the surface skin. This makes the whole creature seem like it's living on the edge judging by how the sharp edges of the scissors hang close to the delicate tubing and stitches, and the creatures facial expression indicates rabid behaviour.

I wanted to copy this design in black and white before I add shades in ink since colour is an expanse of possibility in its own right, with tonnes of variance. You can see in the picture how I write down what kind of colours may suit this design in terms of how it may influence the final design. Not realising what kind of effect this may have could destroy what you have, so in order to get around this I make multiple copies of the same picture in this black and white format so I can compare them when I'm finished.
This nature of designing falls into CAD (Computer Aided Design). I prefer working on paper since it feels more natural to do so, plus I don't need to worry about computer formats, whether the program (or computer) will crash, or what tools I need to use to get the results I want.
